Earl of Southampton

Oh, Shakespeare! Say it Isn’t So!

Posted by Sherry Lee • November 03, 2015

Have you ever read Shakespeare’s sonnets? I’m sure you are familiar with many of the phrases he used; the famous lines of love and adoration, such as this Shakespeare quote, “shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” But did you know this sonnet was written about a young man? Holy Cow, right!?

I have attached a picture of the young man it is believed that sonnet was written for! This is a portrait of the Earl of Southampton.

Heard of Gone Girl? What About Gone Guy?

Posted by Sherry Lee • October 27, 2015

I love researching famous historical figures! I research important people of our past, and discover people with sketchy details about their lives. For instance, did you know William Shakespeare had seven years of his adult life when no one knew where he was, or what he was doing? Apparently, he left his wife and three children when their twins were almost newborn infants, and there is no record of him for seven years! Where was he? What was he doing? Who was he doing?

Juicy stuff… Wait till you read what I think he was doing in my historical romance The Dark Lady, which is coming out in December. It’s the third installment of Miela McCormick’s BIG adventure in the Time Angel Series. You won’t want to miss it!

Have You Heard the Impossible Music of Beethoven?

Posted by Sherry Lee • October 20, 2015

Have you ever listened to the beautiful music of Ludwig van Beethoven? You know he went deaf when he was a young man, and continued to compose his beautiful music. But how could he do that? How could he hear the beautiful sounds, write the notes? And why did he go deaf?

Did you know he had an abusive father? A father who would strike his fingers with a stick when he hit the wrong note while learning to play the clavier, a predecessor to the piano. And he was just a toddler. He had to stand on a box to reach the keys!

Read about his impossible story in the historical romance Time Angel and discover how I think he achieved the impossible feat. Time Angel is the second installment of […] READ MORE

How to Use Time Travel Humor in Historical Romance

Posted by Sherry Lee • October 13, 2015

I like to write with a sense of humor. Inserting modern terms into conversations with 15th, 16th, and 18th century characters, for example. They do not have any idea what our time traveler is telling them, with terms like “okay” or “playing for the other team” with regards to a homosexual.

And trust me, after reading Mysterious Ways and my description of one of Johannes Gutenberg’s “personal” body parts, you will never hear the name “Johannes Gutenberg” without snickering to yourself!

Do You Ever Wonder About the “What Ifs”?

Posted by Sherry Lee • October 06, 2015

I write about the “What ifs”…  What if certain important events had not taken place when they did? What if wonderful historical figures had never achieved their greatness, their remarkable talents? And what if the only reason they did was due to a time traveler from the future who knew their greatness and how important their achievements would be to the future world?

And what if the only reason these things ever happened was due to God’s hand in the events? Enjoy the adventures of my time traveling hero: Miela McCormick, the Time Angel, from the Time Angel historical romance series.

Johannes Gutenberg Wasn’t Really Johannes Gutenberg?

Posted by Sherry Lee • September 29, 2015

Did you know most of Johannes Gutenberg’s personal life is a mystery? His life has sketchy details. We know where he was born — Mainz, Germany — but not the year. Many think it was around 1398, but there are no exact records. His birth name was Johannes Gensfleisch zur Laden. His surname, Gutenberg, was taken from the house his father lived in, zur Gutenberg. Not much is known about him, other than the fact he was “engaged” once, but he broke the marriage contract. No one knows why, but it is recorded in court records that the mother of his betrothed sued him for breach of the marriage contract. There is no record of the result of the lawsuit.

So I have created a plausible reason for a man to […] READ MORE

Introducing The Dark Lady

Posted by Sherry Lee • September 10, 2015

First things first: my Time Angel’s name is Miela (pronounced Mila, like Mila Kunis). I’ve had several readers contact me asking if her name is “Mi-Ella,” or “My-Ala.” Just wanted to clear that up!

I just completed writing my 3rd novel, The Dark Lady. Now it’s off to my editor, the copyright office, and getting its ISBN number. Such as exciting time!

This one took me almost a year to write…so much research! It is about Shakespeare and his seven “lost years” when no one knows where he was or what he was up to. I have interjected my “Time Angel” into those years and oh what a story they will create! So much fun to write, but it was also gut-wrenching, examining the intricate nuances of any relationship, especially when one […] READ MORE
